May 2026
As we move into summer, May has been an exciting month at Sweetgrass Pilates. Our community continues to grow, our schedule is expanding, and we are thrilled to welcome both new and returning friends into the studio.
New Classes Added
Summer Precision I - 7am Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
Based on feedback, we have expanded our early morning offerings with additional 7:00 AM class during the week. Whether you're looking to start your day with precision, strength, or flow, there are now more opportunities than ever to fit Pilates into your schedule. We are currently running 7am Summer Precision I during the summer and will expand back in the Fall putting in Tidal Precision II again.
Sweetgrass Essentials I - 8am on Tuesdays
Also we are introducing Sweetgrass Essentials I, a foundational class designed for those who are new to Pilates or looking to strengthen their understanding of the essential repertoire focusing on form. This class focuses on form, alignment, and movement quality, providing the perfect bridge into our Sweetgrass Flow I classes.
Sweetgrass Ebb & Flow 65+ - 8am on Thursdays
In response to growing demand from our senior community, we have also expanded our 65+ programming. Our new Sweetgrass Ebb & Flow 65+ provides an earlier option for clients who prefer to start their day with mindful movement. Designed specifically for active older adults, this class emphasizes strength, balance, mobility, and confidence while maintaining the supportive and welcoming atmosphere our 65+ clients enjoy.
Summer Sizzle I - 10am Saturdays
Finally, beginning in mid-June, we're turning up the energy with our new Summer Sizzle Contemporary Flow I class. This special summer offering is designed for those who enjoy creative sequencing, upbeat music, and a dynamic workout experience. Summer Sizzle blends contemporary Pilates exercises with flowing transitions and minimal downtime to create a fun, energetic full-body workout. If you love variety, movement, and leaving class feeling energized, this one is for you.

Welcome Jeanette Modie
We are delighted to welcome Jeanette Modie to the Sweetgrass family. Jeanette brings extensive teaching experience, specialized training with older adults, and a passion for helping clients move with confidence. Read more on her bio here. She will be leading our Tuesday and Thursday 8am morning classes, helping us continue to expand our programming for all experience levels. Welcome her to the team when you see her!
A New Piece of Pilates History: The Ped-O-Pull
This month, we welcomed a new apparatus to the studio—the Ped-O-Pull. Originally designed by Joseph Pilates, the Ped-O-Pull is one of the lesser-known pieces of equipment from his studio but remains one of the most effective tools for improving posture, alignment, balance, and body awareness.
The apparatus consists of a vertical pole with springs attached near head height. Joe Pilates used it to teach clients how to stand tall, organize the spine, and connect their core to upright movement. The gentle spring feedback helps develop better posture while encouraging strength, stability, and coordination throughout the body.
All are invited to explore the Ped-O-Pull during our Thursday Open Studio sessions at Noon. It is a great balance and full body workout. If you've ever been curious about Pilates beyond the reformer, this is a wonderful opportunity to experience a piece of authentic Pilates history and discover a new way to challenge your balance and alignment.
Summer at Sweetgrass
Summer is a wonderful time to stay consistent with your movement practice. Whether you're a year-round resident or visiting the Lowcountry, our studio offers classes designed to improve strength, balance, flexibility, and overall well-being.
We are also launching special opportunities for vacationers and teachers this summer, making it easier than ever to stay active while enjoying the season.
Thank You
Most importantly, thank you to our incredible community. Your enthusiasm, dedication, and support have helped create a welcoming community where everyone can move, learn, and thrive. We look forward to continuing this journey with you throughout the summer months. It is a time for us to reflect on our practice and keep it going when life gets busy, whether you are on the road or here at home we are here to support you.
We hope to see you in the studio soon!
Stephanie
